Anxiety
People usually feel discomfort from unwanted situations and these situations awakens the danger alarm which is necessary for survival. They might experience increased heart rate, sweating and hot and cold flashes which is normal to have in such conditions.
What is Anxiety Disorder?
When a person is suffering from Anxiety disorder, the unwanted fear may be present all the time. It can be quite painful and incapacitating.
People can cease engaging in activities they like to do as a result of this disorder. For instance, it might stop them from using the elevator, talking to people, or in the worst scenarios, even leaving their house. The anxiety will only continue to worsen if it is not treated.
Everyone is susceptible to anxiety disorders, which is the most prevalent type of emotional disorder. However, women are more likely than males to have an anxiety disorder, according to the American Psychiatric Association.

Types of Anxiety Disorder
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD): GAD may cause severe and irrational worry for no reason. People might worry a lot about several things like health, job, studies, and relationships. They might think that their anxiety keeps on moving from one item to another.
Panic Disorder: A strong, unexpected panic episode is a symptom of panic disorder. Compared to other types of anxiety disorders, these attacks frequently contain more potent, acute feelings. A trigger, such as going into a situation a person fear, can cause the sensations of terror to start suddenly and unexpectedly.
Social Anxiety Disorder: With regard to common social situations, people could feel excessive anxiety and self-consciousness. They can be concerned that people will judge them, that they’ll look foolish, or that others will make fun of them. Social encounters may be completely avoided by those with social anxiety disorder.
Separation Anxiety: Most often, children or teenagers with this disorder worry about being away from their parents. Children who suffer from separation anxiety disorder may worry that their parents will suffer harm or not return as promised.
Selective Mutism: It is the inability of children to talk in some contexts, like school, despite their ability to do so at home and with their immediate relatives. This may hamper how they operate at work, school, and in their social life.
Specific Phobias: An extreme dread of a particular scenario or object is known as a specific phobia, sometimes known as a simple phobia. A person might start avoiding commonplace situations as a result.
Agoraphobia: People suffering from agoraphobia may have difficulties in being in situations like enclosed or open spaces, in line or cue, crowded spaces, anywhere but home.
Anxiety Treatment
Medications
In Anxiety disorders, a Psychiatrist usually prescribes anti-anxiety medications like benzodiazepines. But it is provided for short-term only as a person may develop tolerance of the medications and it is less effective after a point in time. Other than this, antidepressants, beta-blockers and antipsychotics are also prescribed by the professional based on the condition of the client.
Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy helps people in dealing with their emotions, triggers and thoughts behind them. More commonly Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Desensitisation and Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy are being used in Anxiety Disorders. Other than that, family relationships, surroundings and social functioning are also being taken care of in order to ensure long term recovery.
